Sampler
Equipment for recording real sounds (samples) digitally to manipulate them. The sampler allows you to cut or paste sounds, create bends, change the speed of the tape, reverse the direction of the sound etc. Sound samples can be stored on disk for later use.
Scale
Correlative succesion of notes order in ascending o descending order. According the arrangement of the tones and semitones there are diferent kind of scales.
Chromatic scale
Scale of twelve sounds, in semitones succesion, without tones.
Chromatic
Whole-Tone scale
Scale of 6 sounds, without semitones with 5 whole tones.
Whole-tone
Diatonic scale
Scale of 7 sounds with 5 tones and 2 semitones.
Diatonic
Major scale

It's formed by 7 sounds with the disposition of tones and semitones: t-t-s-t-t-t-s.

The C majorscale is the scale model for to make another major scale starting in any note.

Tones and semitones organitation's C Major scale is the model.

The note that begins the scale is knowing as tonic and its is the name of the scale.

THe 5th degree is knowing as dominant.

The 7th degree of the scale is the seventh, its attracts for the tonic. Between the seventh and the tonic always there is a semitone distance.

Escala-Mayor
Minor scale

I's formed by 7 sounds with the disposition of tones and semitones: t-s-t-t-s- ts-s.

A minor (G#) scale is the scale model for to make another major scale starting in any note.

Tones and semitones organitation's A menor scale is the model.

It's a minor scale because between the first and third degree of the scale there is a tone and semitone of distance, as the same a third minor interval.

Escala-Menor
Pentatonic scale
Scale of 5 sounds, without semitones
Pentatonic
Semitone
The smallest interval of entonation between towo sounds in occidental music. It is between the notes E-F y B-C.
Semitone
Seventh
Seventh degree of a tonality. It is sense atracted by the tonic.
Sequencer
This can be both a piece of apparatus or a computer programme. It's a controller for recording, editing and reproducing sequences of musical events. It works like a multitrack cassette machine recording MIDI messages with the advantage that the information, being digital, can be copied and manipulated without harm and using little memory.
Silences or rests
Grafic signes indicating the absence of sound. Each note has a corresponding rest in duration.
Silence
Syncopation
There is a syncopation when the notes are played on beats which are normally unaccented and they are extended more of the accent.
Syncopation1
One of the effects that defines the rhythm music is producing to advance the beat of a important note that normally pplays in strong beat.
Syncopation2
The syncopation and the counterpoint notes changes the initial accents.
Sound synthesis

There are many ways of synthesising sounds. Electronic apparatus generates or processes sound to reproduce it. The radio, cassette player and CD reproduce sounds represented by fluctuations of electricity. The most common methods of representing sounds are analogue and digital.

Analogue: The information consists of oscillations in electrical tension reproduced in analogue - imitations of sound waves travelling through the air.

Digital: The information is represented as a series of numbers: ones and noughts (binary code), "samples" which are the wavelengths in successive moments.

Synthesizer
A musical instrument generating sounds using one or more methods of synthesis (analogue or digital). Usually the synthesizer takes the form of an electronic keyboard with buttons to control the timbre. There are programmable and non-programmable synthesizers. A synthesizer has two fundamental parts: The sound generator(s) and the keyboard (for direct sound generation) and the annex controllers.
Song
Text singing with a music that adaptaded at the phrases and the sense of the words.
Song
Sharp
# Signe that puts in front of a pitch ups a semitone the pitch.
Sostenido
Sound card
Unit connected to the computer allowing the production and reproduction of sounds of a certain quality. The most common are Sound Blaster or compatible.
Sound modul
MIDI Modul or rack. This is a multitimbric sound source or synthesizer without a keyboard, which receives orders or MIDI messages arriving from the computer or another synthesizer (with or without keyboard).
Staff
The set of five horizontal lines and spaces on which music is written.
Staff
Subdominant
Fourth degree of a tonality.
